KPV is a naturally occurring tripeptide (Lysine-Proline-Valine) derived from alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). This C-terminal fragment of α-MSH has been studied for its anti-inflammatory activity without the pigmentation effects associated with the full hormone. Research indicates KPV may modulate inflammatory pathways by inhibiting NF-κB activation and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Studies have examined its effects in gut, wound and inflammation models. KPV represents an important research compound for understanding melanocortin-mediated anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
